Intimacy

Our species speaks directly into one another's mouths, so the idea of kissing (like you do) feels like screaming into their “ear”—very rude. Instead, to show intimacy, we like to rub our vestigial umbilical ports together (I guess you'd call them belly buttons).

What greater closeness could there be than to say: This is where I came from—the gateway by which I was nourished to become a fully formed being—and I trust you with it completely?

To say, this is what I was meant to do with my complete self: Be with you, for a long time to come.
